MIKE MITCHELL; BACK IN BLACK

Awhile back we did a print edition with the artist Mike Mitchell. The "Skullypus", a cross hybrid of our Octopus logo and the signature Mike Mitchell little skully dude. It was in a word AWESOME.

The print edition sold out in minutes. And many, many of you were bummed at us. It's the curse of making limited edition sought after things, they sell out fast. In an effort to bring more art into the world we talked to Mike and he suggested that we offer a "black" version. But then that's it, that's where this print ends. Like the Ying Yang, there will only be the white and black.

Mike Mitchell collab with Blink182's Mark Hoppus brand Hi My Name is Mark, the skullypus print black edition.

The Black Version will go on sale this Thursday the 19th 9AM PST.

FILMAGE UK RECAP

There's not much we can say about Filmage that we haven't already said a million times before. It is an amazing film that should be required watching for everyone wanting to start a band or make a film. You could hate the Descendents, hate music, hate documentaries, and you will walk away loving all three. We loved it so much we went all the way to London to give our support to the Filmage guys.

Grab some popcorn the movie has started.

The UK edition of the Descendents X HMNIM tee.

The Q&A with the Filmage guys and Mark.

How cool is this screening room? Dozens of couches and chairs.

Mark and a Descendents fan.

None of this would be possible without, Mark, Filmage Crew, and Everything Sucks Music.

THE SCARIEST PLACE ON EARTH/CANADA

It's the first day of October, and you know what that means. Pumpkin Spice Latte's at Starbucks! NO, that is incorrect, well it's correct but not the right answer for this post (they are good aren't they?). October means that there will be a million ghost shows and specials on TV this month, and the scariest movies of the year will premiere. But to kick things off we are going to talk about the Nightmares Fear Factory who pride themselves on not how many have taken the tour, but on how many couldn't even finish it. Watch this video for the back story on the legend.

It would be scarier if they didn't use the demon voice narration, and really just made it out to be a credible historic video piece. Sometimes authenticity can have a far more chilling effect. But they must be doing something right because the photos below show some very scared people. Try not to laugh. We're serious, look at these photos and just try not to laugh at those people, you can't do it. Laughing at someone else's fear is one of the greatest joys in life. So enjoy.

"FILMAGE" HOSTED BY MARK HOPPUS

If you know your punk rock history, then you already know that the Descendents were the pioneers that influenced the genre as you know it today. And like every band, it all started with a couple friends in their parents' garage learning to make mistakes and make music.

We here at HMNIM are huge fans, and when the opportunity came along to be a part of this movie, we jumped at it. Now, Mark is already in the movie as they interview him about the influence that the Descendents had on him, but where could we fit in? Sure, we could re-edit the entire film and use the latest CGI technology to drop ourselves into the movie's key scenes (more thought went into that than you probably know). But in the end, we felt the best way to be a part of the film, was to host our own special screening of FILMAGE here in San Diego with our friends Vannen Watches

We'll be talking about this more as we get closer to the 21st. Don't wait until then to get your ticket as all 3 shows are expected to sell out. And did we mention that there will be an exclusive HMNIM X Descendents tee? Oh there will be, and you'll be super bummed if you don't get one.

FILMAGE Synopsis: Long before Green Day and Blink-182 inflicted punk-rock's puncture wound on the map of mainstream music, the Descendents were in a garage concocting the perfect mix of pop, angst, love, and coffee.
FILMAGE: The Story of DESCENDENTS / ALL follows band leader/drummer/square-peg Bill Stevenson and his "caffeinated retardedness" as he pushes his rotating door of bandmates to "achieve ALL," his philosophy of going for greatness at all costs. Stevenson is a force to be reckoned with, proving that not even a grapefruit-sized brain tumor can keep him down.
Interviews with the band, along with Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters), Mark Hoppus (Blink-182), Mike Watt (Minutemen), Brett Gurewitz (Bad Religion) and many more reveal the story of a band — if not THE band — responsible for pop-punk as you know it.
